Elizabeth Seger  –  Co-Founder & Science Distillery Writer


Elizabeth is a co-founder of The Science Distillery and writes on topics of biological research, medicine, bioethics, and science communication. Elizabeth holds a B.S. in Human Biology and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles where she was involved in HIV and cancer research, and clinical stroke research at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital. Elizabeth was also a member of UCLA’s Bioethics Debate Team and Research Lab, and she has taught classes in bioethics and philosophy of science at UCLA. She is currently completing her graduate studies in the History and Philosophy of Science, Medicine and Technology at the University of Cambridge.

Karan Shetty  –  Co-Founder & Science Distillery Writer

imageKaran is a co-founder at The Science Distillery and focuses on issues related to the environment, planetary sciences, climate change, and the intersection of physical and social sciences. Karan holds a B.S. in Environmental Science with a focus in Environmental Systems and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles. While a student, Karan was highly involved with both on and off-campus projects, advocating for renewable energy education and implementation on campus, helping advance UCLA’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2025, and performing preliminary research focused on kick-starting the revitalization of the Los Angeles River. When not working or raving about the environment and climate change to anyone who will listen, Karan enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and playing guitar.
